ESI: Doing Business The Green Way
Everywhere you look and read, you see the words “Going Green.” It can sound daunting and expensive. But it isn’t! You may already be green and not even know it. ESI has been doing business in an environmentally friendly way for many years. As our multi-faceted green program grows, we’ll continue to incorporate other ways to reduce emissions and energy use in addition to these practices.
Exhibit Building and Recycling
ESI designs and constructs custom and rental trade show exhibits with reusable fabric and system components. This significantly reduces packaging for storage and transport. It also reduces overall component weight, transportation costs and handling requirements, reducing carbon emissions. Rental system components are often reusable for other exhibits, including some custom rental components if they are not client-specific. We utilize recyclable products wherever we can, such as recyclable GreenLam as our solid stock laminate.
Reducing Energy
Along with our construction recycling program, we purposefully chose a waste collection service that recycles as much material as possible. We contract with Homewood Disposal and work with them to ensure that our waste is recycled as thoroughly as possible.
As an exhibitor, you can reduce energy use in many ways while managing your trade show displays:
- Travel: Consider sending only key staff to trade shows and review designs and graphics via ftp sites rather on paper or in person.
- Lighting: LEDs are the most efficient choice for exhibit lighting. Fluorescents are the second best option. Use them instead of incandescents or halogens, which are energy hogs.
- Transportation: Try to reduce the number of shipments by consolidating shipments. Consider storing your properties in the trade show’s locale. Contact ESI for assistance as we have storage facilities near convention centers in Atlanta, Chicago and Las Vegas. This will also reduce your transportation costs.
- Reduce Weight: Lighter-weight properties require less energy to transport. Consider using materials such as aluminum frames and fabric graphics to make a big difference.
